Dear Advocate,

In this season of gratefulness, we are grateful for you! Thank you for your continued dedication to housing for all Oregonians. Because of your support, Housing Land Advocates (HLA) in partnership with the Fair Housing Council of Oregon (FHCO), continues to drive needed change at both the local and state level.

As a holiday gift, HLA in collaboration with our fabulous volunteers have created a Goal 10 Post Acknowledgement Plan Amendment (PAPA) page for planners and advocates alike (read more below). After all, what better holiday present can you give, than adequately planning for and creating needed housing?

HLA Launches The Post Acknowledgement Plan Amendment (PAPA) Page for Planners

Are you a planner trying to stay in compliance with Goal 10? Are you an advocate looking to ensure your city is planning for affordable housing? We have the resource for you!

HLA is pleased to announce a new education page, designed to provide resources for both planners and those looking to be greater advocates for affordable housing. The planner page has sample, well written Goal 10 findings from Milwaukie and Medford, as well as a template any planner can use to comply with Goal 10.

Have a friend who doesn’t know what cities need to do, to adequately plan for housing in their neighborhood? Send them this page, and have them subscribe to the HLA newsletter.

HLA News: Highlighting our Student Board Member and Education Program

HLA continues to engage and mentor the next generation!

Did you know that HLA runs a robust mentorship and student board member program? Through education, opportunity, and valuable connections, HLA continues to help the next generation of planners create roots in Fair Housing and advocacy. Check out the testimony from one of our dedicated volunteers, Dagny Daniel!

“The As an emerging planner, contributing to PAPA and HPS reviews through the Housing Land Advocates has been critical to my education. The opportunity to learn from and collaborate with the dedicated team at the HLA has been highly informative and has allowed me to advance a cause I’m very passionate about: equitable, affordable housing. I have become far more familiar with the structures of Post-Acknowledgement Plan Amendments and Housing Production Strategies and how to read them, how to write public commentary, and various tactics and policies to further affordable housing goals. This process has also allowed me to network with like-minded professionals and has solidified my interest in housing policy work. I’m very grateful for the support and guidance I have received through the HLA and look forward to continuing to fortify their cause.”

This work furthers HLA’s mission as an advocate for thoughtful land use planning, and as a watchdog to ensure that state and local governments fulfill their obligation under adopted housing policies, goals, and statutes.
