Did you know that HLA runs a robust mentorship and student board member program? Through education, opportunity, and valuable connections, HLA continues to help the next generation of planners create roots in Fair Housing and advocacy. Check out the testimony from one of our dedicated volunteers, Dagny Daniel!
“The As an emerging planner, contributing to PAPA and HPS reviews through the Housing Land Advocates has been critical to my education. The opportunity to learn from and collaborate with the dedicated team at the HLA has been highly informative and has allowed me to advance a cause I’m very passionate about: equitable, affordable housing. I have become far more familiar with the structures of Post-Acknowledgement Plan Amendments and Housing Production Strategies and how to read them, how to write public commentary, and various tactics and policies to further affordable housing goals. This process has also allowed me to network with like-minded professionals and has solidified my interest in housing policy work. I’m very grateful for the support and guidance I have received through the HLA and look forward to continuing to fortify their cause.”
This work furthers HLA’s mission as an advocate for thoughtful land use planning, and as a watchdog to ensure that state and local governments fulfill their obligation under adopted housing policies, goals, and statutes.
